Urban Design Gets Sticky | design mind

Stickers for change. From designmind.frogdesign.com.

This story has been covered by the film Urbanized by Gary Hustwit, by the NPR Cities Project, and now by Kristina Loring at Design Mind. New Orleans designer Candy Chang saw that much of her city was failing to recover after Hurricane Katrina, and wanted to see what it was that people wanted to fill these abandoned lots or storefronts. She came up with the idea of creating these “I wish this was” stickers and giving them to local merchants to distribute freely so that people could say what they wanted an abandoned place to become. This has grown up into an online crowd-sourcing effort to find answers to New Orlean’s problems.
